Recruitment portal for 500,000 teacher crashes

Can anything good come from the Federal Government?

The N-Power Teach portal crashed on Sunday, which was the day the recruitment of 500,000 teachers commenced.

Reason? Heavy Traffic. You can only imagine how many people were on the site ( http://portal.npower.gov.ng) the first day application commenced. It's crazy. There are millions of people without jobs and no one wants to be the last man standing.

When I first heard about the N-Power Teach initiative, I just hoped the FG would pull this one out successfully. It is common for Nigerians to doubt the veracity of the N-Power Teach, given that many such employment projects have failed in the past. There are so many job scammers around.

Remember the Immigration Recruitment Scandal? 6.5 million Nigerians applied for 4000 immigration jobs! In one of the venues (Abuja National Stadium), more than 68,000 applicants turned up. There was a stamped and 23 people lost their lives, several injured.

I hope we would not see a repeat of this with the N-Power Teach. It is one thing to raise the hope of millions of Nigerians, it is another thing to deliver.
